Honoring Caregivers: Nominate a Care Hero for Mayfest 2024
The care nomination program is an important feature of Mayfest. Caregivers and care facilities play an important role in offering support, love, and care to those in need, often without seeking recognition for themselves. The Caregiver Nomination Program is our way to show appreciation and gratitude to the care heroes who did exceptional work in serving the community. If you know a care hero who deserves recognition, now is the time to bring them into the spotlight. This blog will discuss how you can nominate and the criteria to help you choose who to nominate.
What is the Caregiver Nomination Program?
The caregiver nomination program started last Mayfest 2023. One of the primary goals of Mayfest is recognizing and supporting caregivers through fun-filled activities. The nomination program directly supports the mission of Mayfest. There are three categories that participants can nominate: outstanding caregiver, facility owner, and nonprofit organization.
After the nomination period, the committee will evaluate the nominations and pick one person or organization per category to award. The winner of each category will be recognized and awarded during Mayfest.
Nomination Categories
The three categories you can nominate include:
Outstanding Caregiver - This is open to every caregiver who has been actively providing care within Southern California for at least one year before the nomination. This category aims to honor individuals who go above and beyond their duties to provide exceptional care and support, regardless of whether they are professional caregivers or family members.
Facility owner or Assisted Living Facilities - Nominees for the Caregiver Nomination Program should be registered care agencies in Southern California, serving care facilities or the elderly, sick, and homeless, with at least two years of operational history. They must also maintain a reputable standing in the community, free from significant legal or ethical issues within the last two years.
Healthcare Nonprofit Organization - Eligible care facilities for nomination must be licensed establishments in Southern California catering to the elderly, sick, or homeless, operational for a minimum of two years, and without any citations or regulatory infractions in the previous two years, excluding those for adults and the mentally ill.
For each category, there are different sets of eligibility and nomination criteria. Those who wants to nominate should carefully read the criteria and make sure to follow them. The criteria will serve as a guide to identify the best caregiver, facility, and nonprofit organization that deserves to be recognized.
